After many years of singing in choirs and school musicals, Stephanie began formal vocal training in her late teens. In New York, she discovered Singers Forum, where she learned bel-canto technique with Wendy Russell, Liz Russo, and Phil Campanella. She studied jazz styling, music theory, and cabaret performance with David Epstein, Anat Fort, Mark Wade, and Johnny King. Stephanie has also studied with legendary jazz cat Mark Murphy.

As a performance artist, Stephanie draws inspiration from Katharine Hepburn and other classic screen sirens like Greta Garbo, Lauren Bacall, Mae West, and Veronica Lake. Her two and a half octave voice ranges from smoky jazz lows to operatic highs, blending with a unique quality reminiscent of a 1930s torch singer.
